I see these girls and my heart aches for them. I know how they feel. Both struggle with their self-image, insecurities, and the need to be loved. One looks for relationships continuously, while the other struggles with the one she has. The unhealthy part of the way these beautiful Princesses of God handle their situations is that they haven't fully grasped the beauty set within them by their Creator and the fact that only HE can fill the void they constantly try to fill with unrealistic expectations. I've been there.
My heart does ache. It aches with their circumstances and it aches with the realization that things like these are mostly learned by experience alone. They must go through it. They must feel the pain and learn to reject the false, unhealthy dependence on anything or anyone other than God. They must learn to guard their hearts against the idolatry that takes place when we, as girls, desperately cling to what will never fulfill us, but we settle for it now, instead of preparing ourselves (spiritually, physically, mentally) to be and to receive, the best possible godly person that God can bless.
It is dangerous territory, the heart of a girl and woman. It can be our strength, it can be our weakness. It can be set on fire from above, or tormented by lies from the devil. And when we place our hearts in the hands of someone else, giving them the power to dictate how we feel, we postpone the awesome work God wants to do if it were in HIS hands, as it should be.
I see these girls and I want to hug them and make them understand that this is temporary. Truly, my heart aches for them...Time flies by and there are more important things. Though sometimes, the things of the Lord and those of eternal value take second place to our own feelings and relationships, I believe we can make a difference in these girls' lives! We can:
- Pray for the girls in our lives
- Encourage them with Scripture
- Invite them for fellowship
- Talk, talk, talk!!!
- Share our testimony
As we build relationships and we open up to one another, trust is built. There is an amazing piece of Truth we MUST share with the girls in our lives- that they are FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY made by their Heavenly Father, the Healer and only Source of everything fulfilling, beautiful, lovely, and true. There is our Hope: in Christ alone.
Be blessed and encourage someone today!
