By choice, you hesitate to take the first step and you lack motivation because you feel alone in your plan. Or perhaps you did attempt it once before, only to stop short in the face of opposition. You know the painful way a heart can sink when you see others accomplish what you are still only dreaming of. "I can't do it now," you might think. "I'd only be seen as a follower or copycat." Can you feel joy for those already on the road to success? Or do you use it to dig yourself deeper in despair?
Let go of the shovel. Your hands must be free to worship the God that put those gifts inside of you for a reason; to bring Him glory. You're not a follower. Your plan won't follow the same path that somebody else took. You are unique. God didn't make carbon copies of everyone.
"What is my place?" you may wonder. "Where do I belong? Where is my big break?" Look around you. You are in your place. That break you need will come as a result of hard work and dedication. Do not make the debilitating mistake of comparing your struggles with someone else's moment of breakthrough. You weren't there to see their valley moments. Praise God for their achievements and pray He will be glorified. This is your place. Thank God, though, it is not meant to be permanent. You are not a tree. Your roots are not physical, but spiritual; keep them in God. Guard your mind and heart.
Whether your are ready to take your first step, or it may seem like your first step all over again, take the time to seek God's wisdom. You need it. Prayerfully consider your next step and trust God for guidance. Then start walking. Slow as the process may seem, one single step brings you closer to your goals than another day wasted in self-pity. One step. One foot in front of the other. Every day. As your Shepherd leads you, you'll realize your decision to move is inspiring others to do the same. God is using us even in our journeys to get to where we're going. Let it humble you and allow you to see how this life, this decision, was not just about you.
God has the key to the shackles we place on our own hands and feet. Are we willing to be set free?
Free from self-doubt.
Free from envy.
Free from comparisons.
Free from excuses.
Free from anxiety and fear.
Free from depression.
Free to believe in what God has planned for you.
Free to rejoice at others' success.
Free to know your place is secure.
Free to step out in faith.
Free to make plans and ask others to join you.
Free to step out of God's way.
Know this: God's plan for your life will consist of letting go of many things that hinder your walk with Him. God's plan will require your trust. There is no way around it- you must, must, MUST spend time with Him in prayer and in His Word. He will speak to you and guide you, convict you and comfort you.
There will be times that you don't hear from him (or so you'll think). Trust Him anyway. He will intervene as He sees the need. The Word says that nothing we ever do for God is in vain (so long as it does not go against the Scriptures, of course). Even if you don't think you're hearing from God, if your plan will bring Him glory and you're not compromising the faith you profess, step out in faith. Ask God to open and close doors as He wills. You will see it happen. But nothing will happen if you sit still. Perhaps you've heard the saying, "Even if you're on the right road, you'll get run over if you just sit still."
You can seek the advice of others, but there will be a time when no advice will be enough in the hands of someone that is unwilling to move. Whatever is stopping you, God is stronger. Consider that. It obliterates our excuses. If it is God's will for you, even with opposition, struggles, and hard work, God is able to make a way. It is our choice, ultimately.
Time will pass us by. I would rather try and fail, depending on God's grace and guidance, than to never try at all and live in regret wondering what might have been.
May God clear your mind and make you stronger.
May He give you a hunger for His Word.
May you see your worth and talent.
May the right people come into your life at the perfect time.
May the vision God gave you inspire you to move.
May your good works shine, that others may give God the glory.
May you be a testimony of God's grace, provision, and love.
May you take that step- fear, nerves, and all.
May others be inspired by you.
May you be aware of God's presence.
May you dwell in His peace.
In the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord.
